The Art of Rest: Returning To What Truly Matters This Holiday Season

The holiday season is often painted as a time of joy, connection, and warmth—but for many of us, it brings something very different. Our calendars fill, our lists grow longer, and our energy begins to drain. We find ourselves rushing, worrying, buying, planning, wrapping, cooking, preparing... and somewhere in the midst of all that movement, we forget to breathe.

We forget to pause. We forget to rest. We forget ourselves.

During a season that’s meant to be about togetherness and presence, many of us end up living in a state of tension—caught up in the stress of getting “everything right” rather than embracing the quiet beauty of simply being together.

But what if this season, we chose differently? What if, instead of running ourselves into exhaustion, we created space for rest?

Why Rest Matters (Especially Now)

Rest is not a luxury. It is not a reward we earn after doing enough. Rest is a biological, emotional, and spiritual necessity.

When we slow down, we activate our parasympathetic nervous system—the part of our body that invites calm, steadiness, digestion, healing, and repair. Rest is where the mind softens, the breath deepens, and the body finally feels safe enough to release tension.

Especially during the holiday season, when stress levels rise, schedules overflow, and emotions run high, rest becomes even more essential. Without it, we move through the season disconnected—from ourselves, from others, and from the true meaning of this time of year.

Rest brings us back home.

The Art of R.A.S.T. – A Workshop Rooted in Restoration

This 75-minute restorative experience is designed to nourish the nervous system, calm the mind, and bring the body into a state of peaceful ease. Through fully-supported restorative poses, we gently unwind the layers of stress that accumulate in the body—tight shoulders, clenched jaws, tired muscles, restless minds.

During the workshop, I offer hands-on Reiki healing, allowing energetic blocks to soften and release. Reiki supports the body’s natural ability to heal, reset, and rebalance—making rest not just physical, but emotional and energetic.
